If your JL Rubicon came with the factory rock rails, you already have the hard point. What you do not have is a flat surface to put a boot on. This side step mounts to the OEM side bar and adds one.
It is machined aluminum with a high-temperature powder coat, and select models include a quick-release function so you can pull the step when you want maximum clearance.

Built for the OEM Side Bar
This is not a replacement running board. It is an add-on engineered for the factory Rubicon side bar, which is why the mounting is direct and the fit is tight.
Precision-machined aluminum keeps the step light. The point of mounting to the side bar rather than the body is that you are using a structural part that is already designed to take hits.
Load and Corrosion
The step is engineered to withstand loads of up to 200 kg. That covers standing on it with gear, or multiple people using it as a step at the same time.
A high-temperature powder coat handles corrosion. Between coastal trails, mud and high-altitude salt flats, the finish is what decides how the step looks in three years.
Tread and Mud Shedding
The stepping surface is 120mm wide with an ergonomic anti-slip pattern. Width matters more than people expect: a narrow step is where wet boots slip.
Multi-layer geometric cut-outs run through the step. They are not decorative — they act as self-cleaning channels, so mud clears during a recovery instead of packing in.
