Mirror Covers for Land Rover Defender 90/110/130: Carbon Fiber

The mirror housings on a new Defender are plastic, and they sit at exactly the height where trail debris and overhanging branches arrive. The OMU Genesis Series Rearview Mirror Cover replaces that surface with matte twill carbon fiber.

It also adds a GoPro mount base underneath while it is there, so the mirror position becomes usable as a camera angle.

One-Piece Dry Carbon

The shell is dry carbon fiber, formed in a single high-temperature, high-pressure molding step. That single-step process is where the twill weave comes from — the texture is the material, not a layer applied over it.

The matte finish does not glare in sunlight, and it resists fingerprints and UV fading. Light shifting across the surface is what gives the weave its depth, which is the reason matte reads better than gloss on a Defender.

Aluminum Accents and How It Stays On

Precision-machined aluminum accents sit against the carbon, including a polished OMU emblem.

More important than the cosmetics is the retention system. CNC-machined aluminum clips work alongside the adhesive backing, so the cover is held in two ways rather than one. That is what keeps the housing quiet once the road turns rough — a cover held only by adhesive starts lifting at the edges after a season of vibration.

Fit and Wind Noise

The cover was developed against 3D-scanned Defender mirror housings, so it sits flush instead of overlapping.

A flush fit matters twice. It keeps the cover from humming or vibrating at highway speed, and it sheds rain and trail grit without trapping water against the housing. All three Defender body lengths use the same cover.

Built-In GoPro Mount

There is a GoPro mount base molded into the underside of the cover. Mirror height is a good camera position for trail footage: low enough to catch wheel-to-ground movement and side angles, and clear of roof-mounted gear.

Rock sections, water crossings and narrow trail are all easier to film from there than from a roof rack.
